CLOUD SLIME 

Texture: Fluffy, airy, stretchy

Difficulty: Beginner

Cloud slime is a crowd favorite! This is a type of slime that is described as airy, fluffy, stretchy, etc. The reason this slime is so popular is because of how easy it is to make, and play with! The ingredients required to make this slime are Glue, borax, instant snow, shaving cream, and hot water. Be sure to knead the ingredients until well mixed. 

SLAY SLIME 

Texture: Stretchy, flippable, swirlable

Difficulty: Beginner

Slay slime is essentially the sister of butter slime! It is similar to butter slime but has less clay incorporated into it. Slay slime can be described as swirlable, stretchable, and flippable. The ingredients required for this slime are: Glue, thick lotion (dermasil), baby oil, borax, warm water. The unique thing about slay slime is you add in a portion of clay slime into the mixture. This gives it a consistency that is right in the middle of glossy slime and butter slime.

CLAY SLIME

Texture: Smooth, silky, rich

Difficulty: Beginner

Clay slime is similar to butter slime which you will see as you keep reading. This particular slime is known to hold its shape, and is a fan favorite when it comes to consistency. Clay slime is made by adding soft clay to simple slime. Some clay brands that could be used for this slime are ifergoo air dry clay, dope slimes clay, and original stationery soft clay.

ICEE SLIME

Texture: Cool to the touch, moisture packed, soft and plush

Difficulty: Intermediate

Icee Slime is almost exactly what it sounds like! This moisture packed slime is often cold to the touch really resembling an Icee. This is a clear, glue-based slime and includes fake snow as well. Icee slime has medium stretchability, however, the texture lasts a long time. It is good to note that the amount of water you add to the mixture will affect how wet the slime feels. 

CLOUD DOUGH SLIME

Texture: Soft, squeezable, airy dough

Difficulty: Beginner

Cloud dough is amazing for someone just getting into the slime world! This slime has a soft, squeezable texture that is very holdable. The ingredients required for cloud dough slime are cornstarch, hair conditioner, and optional food coloring. If you aren’t wanting a mess in your home, this slime is the way to go!

THICK AND GLOSSY SLIME

Texture: Thick, shiny, bubbly

Difficulty: Beginner

Thick and glossy slime is one of the original DIY slime textures! Thick and Glossy slime is described as shiny, thick, poppy. When playing with this slime you can expect to hear air bubbles pop. Note that this slime does not include any type of clay which gives it that glossy look. 

CLEAR SLIME

Texture: Sticky, Bubbly

Difficulty: Advanced

While clear slime is super fun to make and play with, it is classified as an advanced slime. This slime is thick as well as transparent. Some reasons why this slime is considered to be advanced: 

  • Liquid: if this slime is left out for a long time, it can turn into liquid. 
  • Heat: Clear slime is prone to melting if it gets close to heat.
  • Stickiness: The stickiness of this slime may have you activating your fingers while playing with it. 

Even though clear slime is advanced, it sure is a fun time playing with it!

PIGMENT SLIME

Texture: glossy, pokable

Difficulty: Beginner

Pigment slime is a slime that uses pigment powder to make it shimmer or glow! It is essentially a regular glossy slime with additional color in it. Lots of people like to put glow in the dark pigment powder in their slime adding a unique element to it. Pigment slime is easy to play with and very easy to make as well. Highly recommended for beginners.

SNOWFIZZ SLIME

Texture: Crunchy, Sizzly, Textured

Difficulty: Intermediate

Snowfizz slime is another fan favorite when it comes to slime! Its name was given to it because of the crunch as well as the fake snow. The texture is commonly compared to exfoliator. Snowfizz is made of out glue, water, activator, and fake snow. Highly recommended for everyone!

SAND SLIME

Texture: Sandy, slightly gritty

Difficulty: Beginner

Sand slime is used at all ages, even preschoolers! This slime is sticky and fluid when moved slowly. However, it gets pretty firm when played with/manipulated quickly. Sand slime is made with glue, water, sand, and  liquid starch. Be sure to mix thoroughly, and enjoy!

JELLY SLIME

Texture: Bouncy, juicy, non-tacky

Difficulty: Intermediate

Jelly slime is one of the most popular slimes in the industry. With its jelly-like feel it can’t be beat. This slime is made with clear glue, food coloring, baby oil, baking soda, and activator. This is a must have when purchasing your first slime!

BUTTER SLIME

Texture: Smooth, Buttery-Like, stretchable, fluffy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Butter slime is a super buttery, smooth, stretchable slime. If you want lot’s of length and stretching, this is the slime for you. Traditional slime tends to ooze, however, butter slime tends to mold and be a lot more fluffy than other slimes. It is made with glue, shaving cream, water, baking soda, clay, and contact solution.

SCHOOL GLUE THICKY

Texture: Glossy, bubbly

Difficulty: Beginner

School glue thicky slime is basically normal glossy slime, but made with white glue. It can also be made with a mixture of different glues. It is not super thick and is very glossy. This slime tends to have great bubble pops, clicks, and pokes. The ingredients needed for the school glue thicky are Borax, water, white glue, and liquid starch.

PUTTY OR PUTTY CLEAR

Texture: Holdable, thick, playable

Difficulty: Advanced

Putty/Putty Clear slime is a slime that is made in a different way than regular slime. It is made with a special type of glue that makes it thicker than usual. This slime isn’t as stretchy as most slimes, it is more putty like. Hence the name putty slime!

COATED CLEAR

Texture: Hodable, bouncy, thick

Difficulty: Advanced

Coated slimes are slimes that are coated in a certain ingredient. It is clear slime that has a coated feeling to it. Generally this slime is non sticky and almost repels your fingers as you play with it. You can expect a fun amount of bounce when holding a coated clear slime. Made with just borax, water, activator, glue, and a tiny bit of glycerin, it is an easy recipe!

CRUNCHY SLIME

Texture: Textured, sizzly, crunchy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Crunchy slime is one of the most popular slimes to date! The reason it is so popular is because of the variety you can get with it. Some crunchy slimes will be more textured, others more bubbly, and then some rough and jagged. It all comes down to personal preference and what add-ins you want. Crunchy slime is known for its large amounts of add-ins that make it “crunchy” when you are playing with it. 

BINGSU SLIME

Texture: Crunchy, Poppy, texture

Difficulty: Intermediate

Bingsu slime is essentially a slime made with straw or Bingsu beads. Bingsu beads are smaller beads that are more lightweight that provide insane bubble pops. A lot of people like this slime for asmr, or for the loud crunches it provides. Bingsu slime is considered intermediate to play with because of the texture. Be sure to invest in a slime company that gets it right!

BUBBLE BEAD

Texture: Crunchy, bubbly, stretchy

Difficulty: Beginner

Bubble bead slime is a variation of crunchy slime! It is specifically made with bubble beads. Bubble beads are small marble like beads. They are very round and provide a nice texture when playing with the slime. This slime is stretchy, crunchy, bubbly, and good for asmr as well!

SUGAR SCRUB

Texture: Blocky, textured, crunchy

Difficulty: Advanced

Sugar scrub slime is typically for more advanced slime players. Depending on how many cube beads you add, it can be a little rough or abrasive on the hands. If you use the same ingredients used in a normal crunchy slime, you just add the cube like beads and you have sugar scrub slime. It really is just that simple!

FISHBOWL

Texture: Textured, crunchy, poppy

Difficulty: Beginner

Unlike the sugar scrub slime, fishbowl slime is a lot easier on the hands! The beads used in this slime are flat on one side and rounded on the other. You can expect lots of crunch, popps, and texture while playing with this slime. Be sure to use the regular crunchy slime recipe and the add the specific beads mentioned earlier. 

FLOAM

Texture: Light, fluffy, airy

Difficulty: Beginner

Floam slime could not be more perfect for beginners. It is super airy, fluffy, light, and helpful for those who get hand pain. This slime is made with water, glue, food coloring, liquid starch, and polystyrene foam beads. The term floam comes from the nature of the foam and slime combining.
 

FROG SPAWN

Texture: Crunchy, Stretchy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Frog spawn slime is another variation of crunchy slime that includes a special type of beads. These beats when added make an interesting frog croaking sound. This slime is great for beginners and has a lot of variety for those who are wanting it. 

CLAY SLIME

Texture: Stretchy, holdable, smooth, silky

Difficulty: Intermediate

Clay slime is really simple! It is slime that incorporates any type of clay into its mixture. Using clay in a slime making recipe makes the slime, stretchy, smooth, and silky. If you are a fan of butter slime, then we highly recommend clay slime as your next purchase. 

SILKY

Texture: Thin, pokable, flippable

Difficulty: Intermediate

Silky slime is essentially a thinner version of thick and glossy slime. Because this slime is thinner, it can sometimes be more difficult to handle. It is made with the same ingredients as thick n glossy slime. 

SORBET

Texture: icee like texture, cool and fluffy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Sorbet slime is a combination of jelly and icee slime. There are components on both slimes mixed into one. Sorbet slime has an icee texture that is more fluffy than the usual ‘icee’ slime. This is great for intermediate slime players who want a little more fluff in their icee slime.

CLOUD DOUGH

Difficulty: Beginner

Cloud dough slime is essentially regular cloud slime that is mixed with clay or air dry clay. The slime resembles cookie dough which makes it extremely holdable. Cloud dough slime is great for beginners, it is easy to make and easy to play with. Lots of people love the stretch of this slime and the consistency. 

AVALANCHE

Texture: thick, rubbery

Difficulty: Advanced

Avalanche slime is a great option for advanced slime goers. This particular slime has both white and clear glue incorporated into it. The unique part about avalanche slime is you leave it be for a few days in order for it to get the avalanche type of visual/effect. When you mix it, you’ll notice it turns into a milky clear. 

CLOUD CREAM

Texture: Holds shape, thick, creamy, inflatable

Difficulty: Intermediate

Cloud cream slime is very similar to cloud slime. However, it is not as fluffy and does not have the same slow drizzle effect. Some would describe this slime as creamy and inflatable, holding shape well. Fun fact about cloud cream slime is the more you play with it, the bigger it grows. This is because of the air that gets trapped inside of the slime. This also makes for great bubble sounds. 

SNOW BUTTER

Texture: Sandy, stretchy, crunchy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Snow butter slime is a combination of snow slime as well as butter slime. This makes for a really unique texture that no other slime can provide. Fun fact, some snow butter slimes even contain stars. This slime is basically butter slime but with fake snow in it. It has a white glue base which gives it a plush and soft feel. 

FLOAT

Texture: light, fluffy, airy, stretchy

Difficulty: Beginner

Float slime is a combination of clear slime and cloud slime. The clear and cloud slime creates a fun layering effect with the cloud slime appearing to float on top. This slime is very playable and great for beginners. The texture is airy, fluffy, stretchy and light. What more could one want? 

SNOW SLAY

Texture: Airy, textured, snowy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Snow slay slime is very unique as it has multiple types of slime mixed into it. It is a combination of clay slime, icee slime, and a white glue base. Snow slay is great for those who want a very inflatable and airy slime. Unlike a snow butter slime, this one is a lot more light rather than heavy. 

JELLY CUBE

Texture: Crunchy, squishy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Jelly cube slime is great for intermediate slime goers. The texture is unique as it is a combination of clear slime and magic erasers! The base of this slime is a clear base and the eraser cubes are very fun to squish into the slime. The eraser could be a little hard on the hands hence the intermediate difficulty rating. 

WATER

Texture: water feel, non tacky, jiggly

Difficulty: Advanced

Water slime is definitely an acquired liking! This particular slime is not for normal stretching, poking, etc. It is however very fun to poke and wiggle it around. Water slime is most often described as jiggly. It can sometimes leave residue on the hands, and can be hard to handle. That is why we have given it an advanced rating.

PERLITE

Texture: crunchy, textured, poppy

Difficulty: Beginner

Perlite slime is great for the slime lovers who have a soft spot for texture! This slime contains perlite which is a natural element that gives it the texture of pebbles. Perlite slime is usually lightweight and pieces in it usually break down the more you play with it. It is easy to handle hence the beginner rating.

LAVA ROCK

Texture: Crunchy, rough

Difficulty: Advanced

Lava rock slime is for those who have tough hands that can handle harder surfaces. Lava rock slime is a crunchy type of slime that is made with lava rocks. This can cause the handling to be painful for those with sensitive hands. That is why we have given it an advanced rating. Be sure to know what you’re getting into before buying one. However, if you are one who loves big textures, this is the slime for you!

SPONGE SLIMES

Texture: Squishy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Sponge slime is like the jelly cubes slime, the difference is that the sponges in this slime are non breakable. The base of this slime is clear slime with added in sponges. These sponges are cut up into cubes that are satisfying to squish. This slime is ranked intermediate as it can sometimes be challenging to stretch. 

PACKING PEANUT/STYROFOAM PEANUT

Texture: Crunchy, stretchy

Difficulty: Intermediate

Packing peanut/styrofoam slime is usually made with a clear base. However, it can be made with a white glue base too. When first playing with the slime you’ll notice the styrofoam pieces breaking down into it. They are very fun to squish and crunch. Note that the slime texture will change over time the more you play with it. 

SLUSHEE BEAD SLIME

Texture: Crunchy, textured, poppy

Difficulty: Beginner

Slushee bead slime is great for beginners. It is easy to handle and great for asmr. This slime is made with tiny round beads. Normally people will use bean bag filler for them, helping with the crunch. There are also some insane bubble pops that really attract people to this particular slime. If you are into asmr, this is a highly recommended option. 

CRUNCH BOMB

Texture: Crunchy, poppy

Difficulty: Intermediate 

Crunch bomb slime is a combination of crunchy slime and clear slime. It has particularly large beads that allow for even louder crunch sounds. In the slime world this is a lesser known slime but is still amazing to play with. Sometimes it can be hard to stretch which gives it the intermediate rating.

FIMO BOMB

Texture: Crunchy, holdable, stretchy

Difficulty: Beginner

The fimo bomb slime is usually made with a clear slime base, however, sometimes it will be made with a more milky base. It uses a large amount of fimo slices which are clay sprinkles used to add decoration to the slime. This slime makes really good crunchy noises and is very nice to hold and play with. The fimo bomb is great for beginner slime goers!

GLITTER BOMB

Texture: Pokeable, stretchy, jiggly

Difficulty: Intermediate

Glitter bomb slime is essentially a clear based slime with a HUGE load of glitter in it. This is great for all the big personalities out there who want to spice up their slime collection! This adds a very pretty shimmery look that you cannot replicate in any other way. Glitter bomb slime is incredibly easy to play with. However, it can be tricky to make at times hence the intermediate rating. 

JIGGLY SLIME

Texture: Jiggly, wet, pokeable

Difficulty: Advanced

Jiggly slime is a clear slime, or milky slime that has a higher amount of water added to it. The amount of water gives it a jiggly consistency when you play with it. The only downside is this slime is not very holdable. That is why we have chosen to rank this slime advanced when it comes to playing with it. We recommend keeping this slime especially covered when done playing with it. 

MICROFLOAM

Texture: Crunchy, bubbly

Difficulty: Beginner

Microfloam slime can be made with a clear base, or a milky base. It is a very crunchy slime that when inflated gets a LOT of bubbles. It is great for people who love the satisfying crunches of foam beads. Microfloam is a perfect option for beginners who want the good crunch, but still have an easy time holding the slime. 

JAVA CHIP

Texture: Soft, Squishy, Holdable

Difficulty: Intermediate

Java chip slime is almost always made with a white glue base but could be made with a clear glue base if desired. It is a slime made with longer and bigger foam pieces that are squishy to the touch. The pieces do not break and are very soft. The only downside is the slime can sometimes be hard to manipulate, but other than that it is a great option!]

PUMICE

Texture: Rocky, crunchy, light

Difficulty: Advanced

Pumice slime is very unique and interesting. It is made with natural pumice stone, or pumice stone powder. This powder is a fine-grained volcanic rock that has an interesting texture. This slime has a lot of air bubbles which make it feel and look like a sponge. The texture can sometimes be really crunchy and irritating to the touch. However, if you make the slime right, you should not have an issue. This slime is great for those wanting a unique touch to their slime collection!
